In July 2023, the journey of Kevala Yoga commenced, inspired by the shared vision of two brothers, Nalin and Sidhant, who relocated from India to British Columbia in March 2022. Having long been immersed in the spiritual path and exploring the roots of traditional yoga, they observed that traditional yoga was not widely represented in its authentic form in Canada. This realization inspired them to embark on a journey to share the traditional essence of yoga with the local community.
Rooted in the sacred principles of traditional yoga and spirituality, Nalin and Sidhant carried their intention and spiritual energy to turn their dream into reality. With the belief that one attracts energies in harmony with their own, the brothers persisted, and eventually, the studio came to life.
"Since day one, our commitment at Kevala has been to create an environment reminiscent of a Yoga ashram. In our sacred space, everyone becomes part of a larger yoga family, interconnected on a spiritual level. Join us at Kevala Yoga and embrace the journey together."
Nalin is a devoted Yogacharya whose life is a living testament to transformation through Yoga. Once immersed in the comforts and expectations of a conventional, fast-paced life, Nalin experienced a powerful inner calling that pulled him toward a deeper truth. Leaving behind a high-paying corporate career, he took a courageous leap of faith and journeyed to Rishikesh, India, nestled in the majestic Himalayas and revered as the land of Yogis. There, at the sacred confluence of the Ganga and its tributaries, charged with the energy of ancient austerities, he awakened to his true purpose.
In 2008, Nalin was initiated into the path of Bhakti Yoga through the Radha Vallabh Sampradaya by Pujya Maharaj Shri Hit Radheshlal Goswami Ji. This lineage infused his heart with the timeless values of spiritual love, surrender, and devotion. In the years that followed, he embraced the path of Ashtanga Yoga, diving into the eight limbs of Yoga as a disciplined structure to stabilize, deepen, and support his devotional sadhana. This rare fusion of Bhakti and Ashtanga has shaped his integrated approach to Yoga - where the heart and the path walk hand in hand.
Through unwavering and consistent sadhana (daily spiritual practice), clarity and simplicity unfolded within him. The wisdom of Yoga began to blossom not from books alone, but from direct, lived experience. Nalin immersed himself in traditional ashrams and studied under masters from diverse yogic lineages, allowing him to absorb and embody a wide spectrum of teachings.
Nalin is a highly experienced and spiritual Yoga teacher, who exudes a profound connection to the ancient art of Yoga. With a wealth of knowledge and a deep spiritual understanding, Nalin guides students on a transformative journey, fostering a harmonious balance between mind, body, and soul.
Nalin possesses the knowledge and expertise to teach various styles of Yoga, catering to the unique needs and preferences of his students. His teachings reflect wisdom accumulated through years of dedicated practice, offering a transformative and enlightening experience for all who seek to explore the path of Yoga under his guidance.
With his gentle yet powerful presence, he creates a nurturing space where students can explore the depths of their practice, cultivating strength, flexibility, and a profound connection to their inner selves. Nalin's remarkable ability to seamlessly blend the physical, spiritual, and anatomical aspects of Yoga makes him an exceptional guide for those seeking to deepen their practice and unlock the transformative potential of Yoga.
Sidhant's journey is marked by a profound passion for ancient wisdom, encompassing the study of Yogic scriptures, Vedic astrology, and Mantras. He firmly believes that the mind is beyond the grasp of science; it is as profound and ever-expanding as the cosmos. Despite dedicating an entire lifetime, the elusive task of modulating the mind may remain unattainable for many. Yoga is a time-tested path to make this possible, a belief upheld by Rishis and Yogis throughout ancient times. He believes deeply in the wisdom of these ancient teachings, seeing them as a balanced way to make sense of life's complexities.
According to him, these teachings are not just amazing, but also very logical and scientific. Sidhant thinks that diving into these scriptures requires time and effort to truly grasp their essence and depth. He's convinced that once you embark on this journey, you'll be amazed to see how timeless these ancient texts are. Even modern science has its roots in these ancient teachings, and in some cases, struggles to fully understand them. These scriptures go beyond just spirituality and mindfulness; they also engage in a systematic, scientific, and detailed study of complex subjects. For instance, if you want to explore astronomy, check out an ancient text called Surya Siddhanta for an incredibly detailed understanding. It's more ancient than any scientific astronomical body.
