Djembé Workshop Initiation
Led by Sofie at Kevala Yoga, White Rock
Have you always wanted to play the drum but didn’t know how?
This is your chance to get a feel for some basic rhythms and variations, and learn foundational skills on the djembé — a traditional West African drum.
This fun and interactive 2-hour workshop is designed for beginners, but even those with drumming experience will have the chance to fine-tune their technique, learn new rhythms, and pick up cool phrases.
Drumming is not only joyful — it’s deeply healing. It positively impacts the brain, boosts the immune system, releases endorphins, and enhances overall well-being. It’s rhythm, movement, and meditation — all in one.
Meet Your Instructor: Sofie
Sofie has been drumming for many years and has trained under renowned teachers of traditional West African rhythms, including Babara Bangoura and Mama Di Keita.
She has facilitated numerous djembé workshops in Belgium for children, adults, and team-building events — bringing people together through rhythm, culture, and joy.
