Meditation on Part of a Whole

CA$20.00

Practice and experience this timeless meditation technique from the revered scripture, Vigyan Bhairav Tantra—a traditional yogic method to meditate on the ultimate reality. In this technique, Yogacharya Nalin Mann will guide you through the meditation, helping you dive deep and connect within.

In this technique, we will incorporate the concept of the ocean and waves to explore their relationship. Through this understanding, we will recognize the true connection between our individual consciousness and the supreme consciousness, realizing that, in essence, there is no difference; we are all part of the supreme consciousness. Let's first grasp the true nature of a wave, and then we can better understand how this technique aids in meditating on the ultimate reality.

When we watch the waves in the ocean, we are witnessing the ocean itself rising and falling. A wave is not an independent entity; it's an expression of the ocean. Waves cannot exist without the ocean, but the ocean can exist without waves. In essence, only the ocean truly exists. The wave is merely a form, not a substance. The ocean is the substance; the wave is just a form.

Language often causes confusion. By saying "wave," it implies that a wave is something distinct. It would be clearer to use the term "waving." There is no wave, only the act of waving—an activity, not a thing; a movement, not a substance; a process, not matter. The ocean is the matter, and the wave is merely a form. The ocean can be calm, and the waves will vanish, but the ocean itself will remain.

Waves appear as individuals, each distinct in size and form; some are big, some are small. When one wave subsides, another rises. Similarly, we as individuals are unique in our own ways, but ultimately, we are all part of the supreme consciousness, the ultimate reality. While we cannot exist forever, the ultimate reality endures eternally. By using this meditation technique, we can grasp the true essence of our existence, recognizing that despite our uniqueness, we are all part of the same supreme consciousness, the same ultimate truth.
