Welcome to our Vigyan Bhairav Tantra Meditation, an ancient and traditional practice of deep meditation. In this session, we will explore the use of sound and its centre as a meditation tool. We will begin by focusing on the sound of a waterfall and then shift to listening to our inner sound by closing our ears.
Sound constantly surrounds us, whether in the bustling city or the tranquility of nature. A fascinating aspect of sound is that it places you at its centre. Sound travels in all directions, and when it reaches you, it converges from all around, making you its focal point. By embracing this concept during meditation, the sense of being at the centre can bring profound peace. The universe becomes the circumference, with you at the centre, everything moving towards you and converging upon you.
Picture yourself sitting in the centre of a waterfall. Close your eyes and immerse yourself in the sound surrounding you, coming from every direction.T he emphasis on feeling like the centre is crucial because, at the centre, there is silence. This silence at your core allows you to hear sounds. A sound cannot hear another sound, but because you are soundless at your centre, you can perceive sounds. The centre is absolute silence, enabling you to hear sounds entering, coming to, and encircling you.
By identifying the centre within where all sounds converge, the external sounds will fade, leading you into a state of soundlessness. As you become aware of this central point where every sound is perceived, your consciousness will shift. One moment, you will be aware of the world filled with sounds; the next, your awareness will turn inward, and you will experience profound silence.
Experiencing the centre of sound, where it is soundless, is a state of spiritual bliss, the state of union with supreme consciousness. Attaining this state is an ongoing journey, not a one-day effort. One can only experience this state when yoga becomes a way of life, with devotion and surrender to this practice of living. Even if one does not attain the highest state of enlightenment, consistent yoga practice and awareness can help one feel centred and connected within.
