Candle Gazing Meditation: Trataka Yoga
with Nalin Mann
FRI MAR 27, 7:15 - 8 PM PDT (FRI MAR 27, 7:15 - 8 PM PDT)

Candle Gazing Meditation: Trataka Yoga is a traditional yogic practice that cultivates focus, clarity, and inner stillness. Trataka, meaning “steady gaze,” is an ancient technique described in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and is one of the Shatkarma - the six classical cleansing practices of yoga.

This meditation uses the gentle flame of a candle as a point of concentration to calm the mind and awaken awareness. Class begins with simple preparatory movements, breathwork, and guided eye practices to release tension and support eye health in our screen-centered lives. Traditionally, Trataka is also known to help clear the sinuses, reduce mental fatigue, and refresh the nervous system.

We then transition into candle gazing meditation, allowing the eyes to soften while steadying attention. Through a steady, meditative gaze, the fluctuations of the mind begin to settle, revealing greater clarity and inner quiet.

Suitable for all levels. If you wear contact lenses, we recommend bringing glasses for greater comfort during the practice.
